Documente inedite privind desfăşurarea evenimentelor politico-militare din Transilvania după Adunarea Naţională de la Alba Iulia

  • Subiect: Unpublished Documents Concerning the Development of the Political-military Events in Transylvania, after the National Assembly of Alba Iulia Though the National Assembly from Alba Iulia developed on the 1-st of December 1918 expressing the Romanians' irrepressible wish decided the unifying of Transilvania, Banat. Crişana, Sătmar and Maramureş with Romania, the Hungarian government opposed to the fulfilment of this desire. When after numerous protests and interventions made by the Romanian government and by the Dirigent Council for the moving out the boundary from Mureş river on the alignment Satu Mare, Carei, includind Oradea being so established by the alliance Treaty concluded on the 4-th of August 1916 between Romania and Ananta Powers, they accepted this movement, the Hungarian government opposed by all means, the acts of terror and the, military force included, to the integration of this territory to Romania. In the period - December 1918 - April 1919 - along the boundary, the Hungarian units and the Secui detachments indulged in numerous and continuous acts of aggression against the Romanian units and the civil population too. In order to put an end to such a situation and terror acts against the Romanian population in the area also to fulfil the decision of Alba Iulia regarding the unifying of Transylvania and the western territories with Romania on the 16-th of April 1919 the Romanian troops assumed offensive. After a five days' fight the Romanian troops defeated the enemy and set free the national territory. In the National Defense Ministry Archives are kept series of the papers of the time connected to these events. Among them I selected 51 unpublished documents.
