Primii profesori de limba română de la Universitatea din Cluj (1872-1919)

  • Subiect: THE FIRST PROFESSORS OF ROMANIAN LANGUAGE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CLUJ (1872-1919) Before the First World War, Cluj had not only been an administrative center of Transylvania, but also a powerful cultural center. From 1872, when the University of Cluj was founded, until 1919, two professors of Romanian language have taught here, Grigore Silaşi and Grigore Moldovan. Youth from all parts of Transylvania learnt at the University. The two professors, mostly Grigore Silaşi, have contributed by their work to the completion and the deepening of the studies of language, history, dialectology, ethnology, history of language etc. Today, when we celebrate 75 years from the foundation of the University of Cluj, it is very important that everyone should know what was inherited and which the starting point was in 1919. Grigore Moldovan, the one who replaced Grigore Silaşi in teaching Romanian language, is a much contested personality by many research workers.
