Reprezentarea cunoştinţelor antropologice în textul scris şi cu mijloace vizuale

  • Subiect: Social science researchers and documentary-anthropological filmmakers have nat yet found an answer to one essential question: How can we describe or depict society as a whole? What methodology would suit best to such a holistic enterprise? Anthropological research is founded on facts, and on the data collected during field research. lf he/she chooses to be a participant observer, the anthropologist will face a series of decisions while ordering and selecting the collected data. There are patterns the anthropologisxt can refer to, which have been set in the early 20th century by Bronislaw Malinowski, one of the founders of modern anthropology. This paper does nat aim to go into details regarding what it means to represent anthropological knowledge in writing vs. in film. lt is rather a review of opinions of renowned anthropologists and anthropological/documentary filmmakers on the issue.
