Un cronicar hunedorean despre evenimentele din 1848-1849. Preotul Nistor Socaciu din Biscaria - Simeria

  • Subiect: A Chronicler from Hunedoara abot the Events from 1848-1849, Nistor Socaciu, Prist from Biscaria (Simeria) The paper offers us some information about Nisto Socaciu a priest s life (.1814-1856) from Biscaria, author of a chronicle verses named: „Epistolă a năcazurilor şi istoria timpurilor trecute". This chronicle presents events from 1830- 1856, and was wrote in chirilical letters. The original manuscript was conten: in a book of size 21 X 27 cm, with a cover of strong barks and had 416 pages of text and 3 pages of summary. This manuscript was known in 1885 by George Bariţiu and it was copied with Latin characters and donated to the Romanian Academy in Bucureşti. Another copy after the original of whose trace bas lost meanwhile, was made in 1963 by Ioan Todor in Simeria, after that it was copied by dr. Victor I. Suiaga, ice Deva, who donated his copy to the Theological Institute Library in Sibiu. Even the first of all the chronicle describes the events from author's life, it can't leave this one aside of those happened in that period. Thus, the author doesn't overlook, the events launched in the spring of 1848 (the revolutionary year,) starting with Romanians' rally in Câmpia Libertăţii from Blaj, at the beginning of May, 1848 and then continued both for the local plan and in Transylvania to culminate in the battle presentation from the Simeria Bridge, since February 9th 1849 and also with the powder warehouse explosion from the Deva Fortress, at August 13th 1849.
