"Cîntecul Pustiei" - două fragmente manuscrise inedite din romanul popular "Varlaam şi Ioasaf" aflate în colecţia Bibliotecii Muzeului Brukenthal din Sibiu

  • Subiect: „Cântecul Pustiei” – Two Fragments in Hand Writing from the Folk Novel „Varlaam and Ioasaf”, which Are To Be Found in the Library of the Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu The folk novel „Varlaam şi Ioasaf", has been translated for the first time in Romanian language in 1648 by the well-educated landowner Udrişte Năsturel from Fiereşti. The novel has been read on the both sides of the Carpathians. A part of the novel „The song of Saint Ioasaf going to desert" has been made a song as well. Through priests and monks the song has been known by the ordinary people too there are known more different songs or poems after the region where it has been sung or spoken. There are to be found in the library of the Brukenthal Museum two different pieces of this song. They are in hand writing one as to be fond bound with a „Psalter" from 1777 (the data has been written by the priest Savu from Răşinari). The second one, in to verse, is very closed in meaning from the Christmas Carlos, is bound with a book in hand writing from 1830. Making known these writings, well known texts but in less known variants we hope to bring our contribution to the image upon the circulation of these texts in Transylvania.
