495 de ani de la moartea lui Radu cel Mare, domnul Ţării Româneşti (1495-1508)

  • Subiect: 495 years from the death of RAdu the Great (1495-1508), the ruler of Wallachia The son of Vlad the Monk, the nephew of Vlad Dracul and the grand-grandson of Mircea the Elder, Radu the Great - just like his father - proved to be a good ruler being constantly preoccupied with maintaining the peace within the state. He strongly relied on the Craioveşti, important members of the nobility: Barbu, Pârvu, Danciu, Radu and Neagoe who will later become the future ruler of the country. The alliances with Hungary and Transylvania were better than ever because the treaty against the Ottomans, signed with Vladislav the II Jagiello on The 3rd of December 1507, had established them. ln exchange for the acceptance of the vassalage, Radu the Great received the Geoagiu estate along with 19 villages for him and his family to serve as a shelter and refuge. Proving a clever diplomacy that was transposed in his policy of maintaining the equilibrium between the three big powers - The Ottoman Empire, Hungary and Poland interested in dominating the southeast of Europe Radu rejoiced a relative calm. At his death, in April l 508, he left a rich, well-organized and prestigious country among its neighbours.
