Tezaurul monetar de la Fâlfani, judeţul Argeş - sec. XVIII

  • Subiect: The Monetary Tesaurus from Fâlfani, Argeş County - The 18th Century The thesaurus discovered at Fâlfani, Stolnici Parish, Argeş County in 1964 has 56 coins issued in the Ottoman Empire between 1703 and 1767. Their value was not very high. They were very much used in Walachia of that time; it was a financial phenomenon that led to the usage of the “leu” for calculation. It is not clear why the thesaurus was hidden. The most plausible reason can be considered the events that followed the Russian-Austrian-Turkish Wars (after 1768).
