Consideraţii asupra logicii lui Simion Bărnuţiu. Cursul de logică tipărit la Iaşi, în 1871

  • Subiect: Considerations about Simion Bărnuţiu’s “Logic”- The Course of logic printed at Iasi, 1871 This paper is intended to present the content and a few commentaries upon an important work of the Romanian thinker and professor Simion Bărnuţiu. There is a large contemporary discussion among Romanian critics concerning the justifiability of the concept of a History of Romanian Philosophy. Some say that Romanian philosophy is such a late acquiring that one cannot speak of a real "history" of a specific Romanian philosophical thought; others say that Romanian philosophical thought must be understood as the whole history of the philosophical writings and essays that have ever been put both in Romanian language, on a Romanian territory or by a Romanian individual. In between, there are plenty of specific nuances. The main problems of such a context meet questions like "Is this or that Romanian work a real philosophical one?" My paper deals with the problem of integrating the logic of Simion Bărnuţiu into a history of Romanian logic. I present some parts and the main ideas of the Barnuţiui’s work of logic that has been published at Iaşi, 1871. The conclusion is that even if the 19th century Romanian scholarship is not an original one, there is an episode of Romanian adequacy to the European culture that is worth being considered a big part of a history of philosophy in Romania.
