O veche stradă din Bucureşti intrată în legendă: strada Bazaca

  • Subiect: The Bazaca Street - an inn, initially, as it is supposed -, was due to a certain Anastasie Bezaca who came to Bucharest as an employee of the Russian Imperial army, during the Russian-Turkish war (1806-1812), when he become rich and remained in Bucharest, after the peace was concluded, in 1812. By its glamour, by the cheap merchandise in the shops on the ground-floor of its buildings, this street attracted Bucharestans from all social strata, mainly simple people such as peasants from the Bucharestan outskirts. Due to the part this street played in the everyday life of the town and the commercial development of the Capital, the memory of this street is still alive in documents, photographs, diary pages or nostalgic recollections - homages to such a beloved place that has disappeared.
