Mişcări sociale în Sălaj în primăvara anului 1848

  • Subiect: Social Movements in Sălaj in Spring 1848 The outbreak of the 1848 revolution brought up in Transylvania the agrarian question, in the dialogue being involved both the political leaders and the peasant. On the one hand, the agrarian law angered the nobility media, but on the other hand it gave hope to the peasants. The nobility opposition towards the application of the agrarian law caused in the regions of Sălaj the outbreak of extensive peasant movements. These social movements were natural result of the peasant’s revolts in the years preceding the revolution. In this period, the revolutionary state of mind in the rural areas manifested itself by the refusal of the peasant to carry out their serf duties by occupying the noblemen's estates and woods, by opposing the authorities' orders. The social movements began to decline by the middle of May, but they meant a valuable experience in the later evolution of the revolutionary events.
