Aspecte socio-demografice privind populaţia ucrainiană din nord-vestul României în secolul al XX-lea

  • Subiect: In the North–West of Romania live the biggest number of Ukrainians, most of them being in the Maramures County, living compactly in the mountain villages, as Poienile de sub Munte, Bocicoiu Mare, Rona de Sus, Ruscova, etc. Because of the socio-economic realities, some of them left their homes for working in the cities, as Baia Mare, Sighetu Marmatiei, but most of Ukrainians who decided to leave their native pace, moved in Banat or in the Satu Mare area. That’s why, during the 20th century, in the Satu Mare County, the number of Ukrainians increased. This migration to the other regions of Romania may be explained by the better socio- economic realities from the field areas, where the agriculture may be diversified and practiced on the large areas. The better conditions for life of the Ukrainians who came in Satu Mare County make an example for the ones who staid home, and determined them to take part of the emigrations phenomenon.
