Conscripţia satelor din comitatul Crasna din 1720-1722

  • Subiect: The conscription of Crasna country villages from 1720-1722 The general conscription of the Crasna county villages, made in 1720-1722 contains precious dates for 58 settlements regarding the structure of population and situation of agriculture in that period. So in those 58 villages there have been taken in evidence 175 families of nobles, 56 families of libertines, 1072 families of serves, 486 families of cotters having houses, 155 families of cotters without houses. These had 1600 1/2 units of land held in villeinage. The peasants had in their possession 505 horses, 33:14 yokes of oxen, 3271 cows, 1899 calves, 2831 sheep, 7294pigs, and 2696 believes. The dates regarding the agrarian products are calculated according to the account of products or to the quantity of seeds. The production calculated on families shows, an archaic agriculture, with a weak productivity (generally twice or three times the seed). The basis of the peasant production was animal breeding, and in some places viticulture. The two course rotation was applied everywhere. The comparison made between the conscriptions from 1720 and 1820 shows us a radical change at the beginning of the XIX-th century: the remarkable natural raise of population, and the introduction of the three course rotation, and the doubling of productivity of the different agrarian products.
