Adunarea generală a Astrei de la Zalău (12-14 septembrie 1926)

  • Subiect: GENERAL MEETING OF ASTRA FROM ZALĂU (12th - 14th SEPTEMBER 1926) The event took place at Zalău, in 1 th - 14 th September 1926 and stimulated the local authorities, which were concerned that everything to be in place. The celebrations began on the 1 th September 1926 with a Te Deum în Zalău square, officiated by the Archbishop Gurie Grosu together with the bishops Iuliu Hossu (Greek Catholic) and Nicolae Ivan (orthodox, in Cluj). The atmosphere became animated by the thousands o participants from town and vicinity. For the first time after 1918, the religious service was officiated in common by the Orthodox and Greek Catholics hierarchs, event gladly discussed by V. Goldiş. In the central square of Zalău the fraternity among the Romanians from the historical provinces of Romania was carried out. The General Meeting of Astra from Zalău had a great importance in the development of the association în Bessarabia. The relations between the Transylvanians and Bassarabians reinforced. The intellectuals from Bessarabia were în correspondence with those of Transylvania; they wrote especially to some Zalău colleagues, expressing their joyfulness for the spiritual connexion forged on mountainous region of Transylvania, repeating the qualities of Transylvanians: firm în work and courageous. Analogies have been macle between Transylvanians and Bassarabians regarding the spring of light - the one dug by Şaguna for the Transylvanians, spring of darkness that flows în dirty torrents from the East towards the Bassarabians. The participants to the meeting visited o peasant art and household industry exhibition at the Teacher-Training School from Zalău.
