  • Subiect: The article presents parts of the realities in the socialist commerce of Bucharest - sequences in a wider mosaic; taken as such, one would think as real the communists' concern for the well-being of the people. ln fact, the lot of shops, restaurants, food departments was empty, and the privileged could only buy their goods (clothes, food) from special stores, inaccessible to the ordinary members of society. The unprivileged had to either suffer lacks and privations worthy of true access, or cultivate "connections" with the personnel in charge of selling goods necessary for the living, so the subversive commercial relations enhanced during the communist era, in Romania, generated a part of the corruption style in function today.
