Arta restaurării carţii vechi - o misiune nobilă

  • Subiect: The art of restoring old books - a noble mission. Two tendencies can be noted in the restoration of old, rare books, either Romanian or foreign. The first approach is based on the complete restoration of the volumes, while the second consists of small interventions, without the volumes being undone. In order to decide which method to employ during the restoration-conservation process of an old book, one must start from the idea that every object, in our case every old book, is an individual case, with specific problems. It is desirable that the direct intervention on a book consists of minimal procedures that would allow the original to be preserved as it was first produced.
