  • Subiect: Coming from a nobler Byzantine family, Şerban Cantacuzino was born in 1634 as a second son of the seneschal Constantin Cantacuzino and of Elina daughter of Radu Şerban. He was trained at the highest schools of the time first at Târgovişte, the capital of Wallachia at the epoch, then at Constantinopole. The documents in the collection of the Museum of Bucharest concerning his epoch represent an important issue concerning the local Middle Ages.
