Activitatea muzicală şi teatrală în presa românească interbelică din Sălaj

  • Subiect: The Musical and Theatrical Activities in the Romanian Newspapers of Zalău after the First World War The paper deals with the efforts of the local artists and then considers the part played by the artists of Bucharest, Cluj and other cities in sustaining the musical and theatrical activities. The musical activity of Sălaj County is dominated by the choir’s movement in the cities and in the rural area. From outside the district two main contributions assert themselves: one from Cluj with the recitals of the Romanian Opera soloists, the other by the choirs of Oradea, Baia Mare and Gherla on stage in Zălau. The theater, though not lacking local representatives, was highly dependent on the presence of artists from Bucharest, Cluj and other cities. This explains, partly, the slow development of the local theatrical movement and its amateurish quality, especially as compared to its contemporary musical productions. The study offers excerpts from the local newspapers in connection with the matters dealt with.
