Instalaţiile hidraulice ale Răşinarilor

  • Subiect: The paper „Hydraulic lnstallations of Răşinari "is ment to bring into a present phase the ethnographical research of this village, having as a goal : the water mills, the fulling mills, the oil presses and the saw mills that once existed here. Victor Păcală, in his book: „The Monography of Răşinari Commune. "(1915) mentions the following hydraulic installations that existed at the beginning of the 20th century here: 11 saw mills, 22 fulling mills, 3 oil presses, 4 water mills, without giving the name of the owners or the place where the installation functioned. At the middle of the 20th century, C. lrimie published the paper: „The Fulling Mills and the Whirlpools from Mărginimea Sibiului and Valea Sebeşului" (1956); the information on the hydraulic installations is accurate, but the fulling mills are not localized, they are just listed, together with the name of the owners. ln 1955, C. lrimie could only find information about 15 fulling mills and oii presses, out of the 22 that Victor Păcală had found at the beginning of the 20th century. This paper is ment to show the place where the installations functioned and to give the description as specific as possible of the installations. Out of all those installations, today there still exist two buildings that once sheltered a saw mill, a water mill and an oii press, the property of the Giurca's.
