Conscripţia urbarială a satului Ortelec din 1785

  • Subiect: The conscription of the Ortelec Village dating from 1785 There were four attempts of settling the serf relations in Transylvania between 1769-1848 in order to determine the surface of the plot of land held by the serfs and to standardize the taxes. Such an attempt was the listing of 1785 made in Sălaj county. On this occasion there were issued questionaries’ with nine questions in the native tongue of the inhabitants. The present paper contains the answers to those 9 points in the conscription of Ortelec village with a Romanian population. The questionnaire was issued in Romanian using the Latin alphabet, and containing a lot of regional words. It results from this conscription that in 1785 in Ortelec village there lived ,64 serfs, 49 jellers having houses, and 11 jellers without houses, they had the right to use 33 acres of gardens, 85 1/ 4 acres of plough land, and 63 1/ 8 acres of hayfield, 5 1/4 acres of clearing, and 49 vineyard. The number of landlords in the village rose to 26. The village used two crop rotations, obtaining a production of 2,5 times, the amount of seed used.
