Obligaţiile iobăgeşti din fostul domeniu al cetăţii Cehu Silvaniei în timpul răscoalei lui Horea

  • Subiect: Serfs duties in the former domain of the Cehul Silvaniei fort during the uprising led by Horea The serf service part and parcel of the feudal rent remains the hardest duty of the peasants on the domain of the Cehul Silvaniei fort during the uprising led by Horea (1784). The two conscriptions from 1780 and 1785, show the hard plot of the serfs, who had to work 5-6 days a week or even whole week on the lords' land especially during the summer campaigns time. Jeleri (the peasants who possessed no land) worked alongside with the serfs. To make their situation even harder the landlords oblige the peasants to do supplemental work which was coupled with the abuses of the high officials and 1Midlords. Even in this short period ·between 1780-1785 on can see the tendency to 1lte the unpaid work of the peasants (bondsmen and jeleri) by increasing the number of workdays obligatory, a process characteristic for the breaking up of feudalism, not only in the Sălaj district, but in entire Transylvania.
