Noi date despre ocrotirea patrimoniului cultural în judeţul Sălaj (1918-1948)

  • Subiect: New Data about the protection of the Cultural Heritage in the Sălaj District The brief retrospective survey concerning the protection of the cultural heritage in the Sălaj district between 1918-1948 presents a large documentary evidence referring to the efforts made for the protection and conservation of the historical monuments of that part of the country. There are analyzed the initiatives and steps taken by the Committee of Historical Monuments in Transylvania Department, which militated for the conservation and restoration of the monuments, as well as for setting up a district museum. There are especially emphasized the efforts they made for convincing the authorities about the importance of the research and protection of some archaeological sites, first of all the complex of Porolissum, which means the north-westernmost center of the Dacian world, and as such proves the extension and continuity of ancient civilization on Romania's territory. A serie of scholars, such as N. Iorga and C. Daicoviciu, encouraged local initiatives, as first of all that of the teacher Leontin Ghergariu, for researching, protecting and sheltering important finds in a district museum.
