  • Subiect: The study of the history and of the specific of tile producing craft constituted, in the last decades, a frequent thematic of medieval history and ethnographical researches, having a great contribution to the knowledge of our people way of life and culture and also of the way of cohabitation and influences between Romanians, Saxons and Hungarians. The exhibition „Transylvanian Tiles -15th-19th century'' draws attention on the heating and food preparing systems -fireplaces and stoves- used in Transylvania along the centuries and regarded as specific elements of civilization for rural and urban habitat. lt presents to the public the tile collection of the museum, the most valuable and complete collection of Transylvanian tiles. The exhibition is the resuit of an ample bibliographical study, archives and field research, study of the collection; the furniture and the expositive framework offer the possibility of presenting the tiles chronologically taking into account the working technologies. Step by step, the graphics, watercolours and excerpts of documents round off the picture of this craft, the way in which stoves and fireplaces have influenced everyday life.
