Sedimentologia plajelor ruditice fosile şi actuale: Studiu de caz al plajelor de la Corni (Bessarabian, Platforma Moldovenească)

  • Subiect: The Gravel beaches have in general, a change in clast shape from large oblate on the landward side to more spherical and sometimes rodshaped clasts on the seaward fringe. Some gravel beaches have built near the mouths of rivers where there is a rich supply of gravel clasts, but many have been built from the local supply of gravel eroded from cliffs. The nature and form of gravel beaches is controlled principally by the supply of gravel, wave energy and tidal range. Gravel beaches were first described in the Sarmatian of the Eastern Carpathians Foreland basins, by Miclăus to Corni area (Neamt County). In the outcrops, the imbricate discoidal clasts facies is well developed, instead there is a lack of the large discoidal clasts facies which represent the upper part of the gravel beach sequence.
