Redescoperind vechi colecţii bucureştene. Mulajul unui diptic al consului Fl. Anastasius (517 p. Chr.) din inventarul Muzeului Simu

  • Subiect: Among the attractions of the city of Bucharest in the first quarter of the 201h century was the Simu Museum with its art collections. Among the replicas and casts of the collections of antiquities was also a cast of an ivory diptych from the Cabinet des Medailles of the National Library in Paris. The piece was ordered by the FI. Anastasius, consul in the East in 517 AD, and is one of the masterpieces of Byzantine Art. Due to its state of conservation the cast of this item was a suitable acquisition for a museum whose main purpose was to bring culture to the people. This short note tries to present the category of the consular diptycha and their iconography.
