  • Subiect: „ln the general context of cultural heritage and tradition conservation, furniture restoration and conservation should play an important role. Furniture restoration presents a series of particularities related to the esthetical and functional valences of the furniture pieces as well as to their complexity in terms of diversity of materials, structures and and techniques of decoration and finishing involved. Moreover, a great diversity of degradation factors and phenomena have to be considerred, carefully examined and properly understood, as a minimal basis for a correct and efficient restoration and conservation procedure. The paper presents some aspects related to the development of a course module on Furniture restoration at „Transilvania" University of Brasov, as background, some practicai achievements and future plans. These latter are referring to the intention of organising master courses in Furniture restoration, conservation and reconditioning, as a response to the market needs and students' option and interest. The cooperation of the specialised personnel from the museums network and other institutions is mostly welcome.”
