• Subiect: The paper deals with a board of 641 silver coins found at the Arsura village (Vaslui County) in 1935. The hoard consists of: 93 Hungarian deniers issued at the mint of Kremnitz by Mathias Corvin, between 1468-1490 (62 pieces) and by Vladislav II, between 1490-1502 (31 pieces). 328 triple groats issued for Poland, Danzig, Lithuania and Riga by Sigismund I (1506 - 1548) - 1 piece. Stefan Bathory (1575 - 1586) - 228 pieces and Sigismund m (1587 - 1632) - 99 pieces. 2 denga Struck by the Russian tzar Ivan IV Vasillevich (1538 – 1584) 211 Ottoman akces (aspers) issued by the sultans: Bayazid II (1481 - 1512) - 2 pieces, Selim I (1512 - 1520) - 19 pieces, Soliman I (1520- 1566) - 186 pieces, Selim II (1566 - 1574)) - 39 pieces and Murad III (1574 - 1595) - 42 pieces. 7 thalers struck by Gerard of Groesbeck in Schaflhausen, in 1550 (1 piece), in Liege in 1564 (1 piece), by Maximilian II in Cologne, in 1570 (1 piece), by Maximilian II in Lubeck, in 1573 (1 piece) by Charles II, Archiduke of Austria, in Styria in 1574 (1 piece), by August of Saxony, in 1585 (1 piece) and by Christian I of Saxony, in 1588 (1 piece). The earliest pieces from the hoard are dated during Mathias Corvin's reign and the latest one was a Polish issue of 1596. The hoard covers a time span of almost 130 years. Special attention is paid by the author to the 211 Ottoman akches, with reference to their metrology, marked value and currency in Moldavia. Further on, the author presents the denomination of the coins which appeared in the Moldavian papers from the mid-15th century up to the end of the 16th century, with some considerations regarding their circulation in Moldavia, denomination and their main characteristics. The four tables are both a synthesis of the whole structure of the hoards and hoard parcel of Othman coins grouped according to the issuing authorities, by mints, masters. The author presents some conclusions regarding the monetary circulation in Moldavia and about the possible historical events which caused the burial of the hoard.
