Noi descoperiri de monede romane şi bizantine de la Dinogeţia şi Salsovia / New Roman and Byzantine Coin Finds from Dinogetia and Salsovia

  • Subiect: Some coins published here are a part of a private collection (nos. 7-12) and are important because very few roman coins from the two sites, Dinogetia and Salsovia, were published, the other being republished here from the coin collection of the Library of the Romanian Academy, now in the coin collection of the National Museum of History of Romania (nos. 1-6). From the first site are also three byzantine anonymous folles (classes A3, Β and E). The one from class A3 (no. 8) was pierced in the 11th century, to be worn as a religious medallion, showing the image of Jesus Christ. Other 20 pierced folles minted in the same century belonging to classes A2-3, B, C, D, Ε, H and from the emperors Constantine X and Romanus IV, used as medallions, showing the image of Jesus Christ or the religious text from reverse, were found in Dobroudja: at Păcuiul lui Soare, Constanta county, Isaccea, Nufăru and Beştepe, Tulcea county.
