Le monete nella tomba di San Francesco di Assisi / The coins found in the tomb of Saint Francisc of Assisi

Subiect: The author brings to the public attention the religious writings of the saint Francesco de Assisi, who was a bitter critic of the monetary development of the Italian society during the end of the 12th century and the first decades of the 13th century. Nevertheless, his writings are in contradiction with the archaeological finds from his tomb, where in 1818 a small hoard consisting of 11 coins was brought to light. The authors seeks to find an answer to this paradoxical situation.
