Doi conducători liberali din sud-estul Europei: Ion I. C. (Ionel) Brătianu (1864-1927) şi Eleutherios Venizelos (1864-1936)

  • Subiect: Two Liberal Leaders in the Southeastern Europe: Ion I. C. Brătianu (1864-1927) and Eleftherios Venizelos (1864-1936) This article was intended as a comparative micro-analysis on two emblematic personalities for liberalism and national state building in Southeastern Europe: the Romanian Ion I. C. (Ionel) Brătianu and the Greek Eleutherios Venizelos. Since Ionel Brătianu’s role and place in the history of Romania have been minutely analyzed in Romanian historiography, being generally well-known by history loving audiences, most of this study deals with the information and opinions on Venizelos, less known in Romania. The author concludes his analysis with the idea that both liberal leaders were driven by the ambion to achieve national ideals, but the Romania politician displayed more caution, which made the results of his actions more durable.
