Sublocotenentul muşcelean Gheorghe Bănăţeanu, cavaleristul căzut la Akimovka (1941)

Subiect: Gheorghe Bănăţeanu, the Cavalry Under Lieutenant from Muşcel County Fallen at Akimovka (1941) After the successful „Munich", the 3rd Romanian Army (the Mountain Corps and the Cavalry Corps) proceeded further on, crossing the Bug and Dnieper rivers, advancing towards the Nogai Steppe (north of the Sea of Azov), fixing and destroying Armies 9 and 18, elite Soviet large formations. Gheorghe Bănăţeanu, under-lieutenant in the 8th Cavalry/Rosiori Regiment, lost his life during the epic battle of Akimowka in September 1941. This paper is dedicated to the tragic fate of the hero who did not reach yet the age of 24.
