Subiect: Sir Stephen Bartlett Lakeman Pasha in Bucureşti In the present article I tried to present the life of exceptional man, who played a major role in the formation of the British Empire, as well as in the introducing of a uniform of a protectionist color in any battle field and in the empowering of the British influence over the Ottoman policy, and in the formation of PNL, the main political party of the old & true Romania. As any man he had his flaws: he was a spy for both England & the Grand Porte, but it was his duty as an officer of both powers. As a landlord he behaved exemplary as he took care of villages and peasants’ children and, churches though he was an Anglican. The fact that he lived here was an enormous luck for Romania: a big part of its political life is owed to him, as he baffled the desire of Austria to put the hands over Romania during the War of Crimea. By founding PNL he contributed the emancipation of the country as a regional power. Will we be ever capable of honoring this great man properly?
