Cercetările arheologice din biserica Mănăstirii Valea, jud. Argeş (campania 2012)

  • Subiect: The Archaeological Research from Valea Monastery, Arges County (2012 Campaign) Though it is a lordly foundation, Valea Monastery is not very often mentioned by the researches. The beginning of the monastery is controversial, and the digging research performed by Flaminiu Mârţu in 1969 did not offered further information in regard. The author considered that the monastery was initially made out of wood, and in the 16th century the voivode Radu Paisie rebuilt it out of stone. The archaeological research performed in 2012 in areas that Flaminiu Mârţu had not researched showed that no wood building existed as the first researcher said. Our researches also demonstrate that what Mârţu considered to be constructions from the 16th century was in fact a ventilation system. In the narthex three tombs were found. In two of them from S1 two male adults had been buried. The inventory of the Tomb one included: one ring & 26 buttons. The inventory was similar to the one situated in M1, i.e. one ring with gems from the Roman Era & 9 buttons. The third was profaned and consequently only 4 buttons were found.
