Imaginea lui Constantin Brâncoveanu în cronicile transilvănene maghiare şi săseşti din secolul al XVIII-lea

  • Subiect: The Image of Constantin Brâncoveanu in the Transylvanian Chronicles in Hungarian & German Languages in the 18th Century In the present study the author discusses the way that Constantin Brâncoveanu & his activity & his political behavior were seen by the chroniclers from the Principality situated to the North of the Southern Carpathians. In order to do that, the German & Hungarian chronicles that talked about the Romanian ruler were studied. He was the most respected Romanian ruler from the second half of the 17th century. In the 18th century chronicles no critical sentence about Brâncoveanu was found. However, the epithets were abundant: ”the great lord” (J. Filstich), „Constantin vodă the Great” (J. Filstich ), ”famous ruler of Walachia” (J. Filstich) ”the good lord ruler” (S. Christophori alias Gaitzer), ”scholar” ”smart”, a ”blessing” for his country (M. Cserei), ”great prince” (Şt. Daniel de Vârhiş).
