Colonelul muscelean Grigore Vasilescu pe front: august 1916 - februarie 1917

  • Subiect: Colonel Grigore Vasilescu from Muscel County on the Front: August 1916 – February 1917 Colonel Grigore Vasilescu was born on September 27th, 1876 in Nucşoara, Muscel County (today Argeş County). After graduating from the Preparatory School of active officers in Bucharest and advancing to the rank of second lieutenant (July 1st, 1898), he followed his military career to the rank of Colonel (May 27th, 1920, but granted from November 1st, 1918), being on October 10th, 1932 in reserve: "ex officio". Colonel Grigore Vasilescu took part in the battles of the Romanian army in the first world conflagration between 14th – 27th of August 1916 – 3rd -16th of February, 1917, as commander of the 2nd Border Guard Regiment. Then, due to the desertion of Colonel Alexander D. Sturdza to the enemy, through his front commanded sector, he was suspended and did not take part in the rest of the 1917-1919 military campaign.
