Restaurarea volumului „Missae pro Defunctis” - 1882

  • Subiect: Restoring the "Missae pro Defunctis" - 1882 This volume includes the funeral ritual in a special formulation of the Roman Missal in the 6th edition published in 1882. The physico-mechanical damages were particularly present on the binding part of the volume, the outer spine suffering irregular breaks along its length, and the corners showing lacks of cover and board. The book body presented broken leaves on the fold length, inappropriate passed between them with glue in excess, which stiffened those areas. After removing the excess glue and restoring leaves, the sections were resewn by changing the damaged cloth joint. The position of this black cloth between the backbone and tapes forced two alternate operations, sewing and gluing up, section by section. The corners of damaged board were built up with blotting paper and recovered, also the spine was restored with new leather between the tooled lines.
