  • Subiect: Pack of Coins Cabinet of Numismatics Object description. The object consists of: a) A rectangular box with 44 drawers; b) Cabriole legs. The front of the drawers is padded with walnut; each drawer is divided into 70 compartments in which 70 coins can fit. Drawers are provided with ornamental brass knobs. Conservation treatment: a) Dirt and dust removal (aspiration); b) Removing drawers from the sliding rails; c) The drawers required complex operations, each drawer becoming by itself an object. The following operation were done: straightening the frame, gluing the drawer table, sticking the slats and making other slates to replace the missing ones, grinding from the thickness of the drawers so that they could easily slide into their place; d) The rectangular box - due to the massive detachment of the veneer it was removed, all surfaces were cleaned and reattached with bone glue through pressing; e) The cabriole legs required the cleaning of the pegs and a new gluing; they were reinforced with 10 / 10 mm wood nails; f) After all the components were reattached by gluing, to remove varnish SZUPERKROMOFAG was picked, abrasive paper of various granulations were used after that the object was polished with SCHERLAK, SUPER POLIN 765, GLANZ-UND PFLEGEPOLISH. The last operation was the mounting of brass knobs.
