Un topor din prima epocă a fierului descoperit la Miceşti (jud. Argeş)

  • Subiect: An Early Iron Age Axe Found at Miceşti (Argeş County) The paper focuses on a stray find namely a double edged axe in iron dating back from the Early Iron Age (the 7th-6th centuries BC). The shape is peculiarly common for the Ferigile group from the northern part of Muntenia and Oltenia (21 exemplars were found only in the eponymous necropolis at Ferigile). The axe was found isolated on the top of an afforested hill and could not be linked to a certain archaeological complex. The closest incineration necropolis belonging to the Ferigile group (Buneşti and Valea Stânii) is about 9 km to the northwest and northeast respectively, but anyway the axe does not belong to a funeral assemblage. The presence of the axe on the top of the hill is to put in connexion with an ancient route used especially by the pastoral communities from prehistory (Early Bronze Age) until the dawn of modern times.
