  • Subiect: „Nicolae Stoica was born in 1903 and until 1988 when he left this world he created for us one of most impressive paintings both on canvas, paper and on the vast ceilings of the Romanian Christian Orthodox churches and cathedrals. He graduated the University in Bucharest in 1925 and was granted a scholarship in Italy by our great hystorian Nicolae Iorga, where Stoica had studied the fresco techniques. Since 1930 until 1945 he was one of the most important Romanian painters, being a constant presence in the Official Salon in Bucharest and he also presented his works at successful exhibition in Roma, Bern, Bucharest and other European cultural centers. In 1942 he becomes a member of the jury in the Official Salon along J. Al. Steriadi, N. Darascu, I. Jalea, C. Medrea, Camil Ressu. In the same time he was also the master painter and restaurator of many important Romanian churches. He is one of the founders of the Luchian cultural movement during the 30`s. His panitings and drawings become part of the important Romanian art museums and private art collections(Zambaccian Collection, Toma Stelian Museum etc.).”
