Ideea de unificare europeană în doctrina şi acţiunea politică a lui Iuliu Maniu (1924-1937)

  • Subiect: The doctrine of foreign policy promoted by Iuliu Maniu had in its core the idea of European unification, with the aim of achieving the security of Greater Romania. During 13 years (1924-1937), Maniu consistently sustained his project of central-European and pan-European integration, which he raised at the rank of state policy as the main objective of Romania's foreign policy in the period when he and his party were governing (1928-1931). With the same aim, Maniu sustained, concomitantly and in consonance with his own plan, the Briand Project of European Union and the Tardieu Plan of Danubian Confederation. Through this, alongside the other Romanian great politicians champions of the idea of European unification, Maniu belongs to the gallery of the forerunners of the actual European integration.
