Evreii în Dacia romană. 5. Discul miniatural de piatră cu reprezentarea stelei lui David la Porolissum

  • Subiect: During the archaeological excavations carried out at Porolissum (Moigrad village, Sălaj country), in the civil settlement of the large fort on top of the Pomet-Hill (fig.1), in the temple of Jupiter Dolichenus (LM 1-S building) (fig. 2) a small stone disk was discovered (d max = 2.00 cm). On one of its facets the Star of David has been cut, with gold thread pressed in the incisions. The small stone disk from Jupiter Dolichenus temple of Porolissum adds a line of Jewish discoveries from the Dacian provinces (Gudea 2000, 191-203) confirming two important aspects of social nature: a. the presence of a Jewish component of the population from Porolissum in the 2nd- 3rd centuries; b. the syncretistic mixture of pagan religion is confirmed in the temple of Jupiter Dolichenus from Porolissum, where traditional Roman cults, Romanised oriental cults and Jewish cults met.
