Preparandia greco-catolică de fete din Gherla la început de drum (1915)

  • Subiect: In the attempt to save the existence of the ecclesiastical schools, the clergy elite involved in school related affairs looked for viable solutions. One of them was the substitute the teachers, enrolled in the army with women, who received a minimal training: daughters of priests or teachers, the wives of the enrolled teachers etc. Thus, in extreme conditions of necessity, on September 1st 1915 a Greek-catholic school for girls opened its doors at Gherla. The purpose of this school was to prepare a teacher for Romanian confessional schools. In fact, it was a school for Romanian girls in general, because aims progress of education in Romanian schools, regardless of their confession. Our study wishes to present the efforts made by Bishop Vasile Hossu in order to establish this institution, the moment for its opening, the problems which was experienced from the first teaching staff. Then I made a prosopographic analysis of the first student class.
