  • Subiect: The 17th century was a tensioned period in the international relations of the countries for Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. The thirty years war (1618-1648), the Cossack riots and their union to Russia (1648-1654), the Turkish campaigns from Hungary and Transylvania, the defeat of the Turks in the assault of Vienna (1683), the Austrian expedition on the Danube, their settlement in Hungary and Transylvania, made the political life more dynamic and their consequences are felt by the collective and individual sensibility. Through their thematic content, rich and varied, the travel notes represent interesting sources of information in order to know more concerning the commercial life of the Romanian Countries. Their content concurrently presents cultural, religious, economic, but also political consideration. The foreign travellers, the catholic missionaries, the protestants, the military, the diplomatic representatives of the other countries, who carne from geographical regions which had a different social and economic evolution from the one of the Romanian Countries, they detected in the Romanian space atypical realities to the states they came from.
