Moartea în casă. Performări spaţiale şi comportament ritual

  • Subiect: This study tries a brief analysis of a particular situation death establishes, surnamed "Death Phenomenon in the House". The collective sensitiveness felt as an internal need the practices inside home, an intimate space. This need was born as a benefit for the one who leaves and also for those who remain in the house. The rituals we referred to belong to the apotropaic elements revealed by a better receival of the "Great Passing". The appropriate places for the funeral ceremony got an affective charge, becoming humanized and they are integrated into the "border places". The presence of death and its imminence determines a new distribution of the intimate space, the ritual centre (the fireplace in ordinary life) being transferred to "the most beautiful and decorated room", as a special place for honour. In the same time we paid attention to the ritual behaviour as it is related to the new connotations of the place. Without having in mind to exhaust all the aspects of the death as the "Last Way", we tried to put to light the most important problems of the idea of Death phenomenon in the house. We tried to present an up-to-date funeral cult ceremony using the bibliographical sources on this aspect. We considered this study to be worth because it tries to reveal the changes in tradition.
