O identitate distinctă printre românii ardeleni. Profesorul Grigore Moldovan (1845-1930)

  • Subiect: Although Romanian historiography was concerned about lives and activities of a lot of cultural and political Transylvanian personalities, due to ideological reasons some of those who did not agree to the nationalist fight during the dualist period were neglected. Such a personality was Professor Gr. Moldovan, the head of the Language and Literature Department of Franz Josef University of Cluj, a former Rector of University. Also having the same devotion and deep love for the country, Gr. Moldovan did not agree to the national fight of the Romanians from Transylvania and Hungary for their assertion. He was a conservative personality whose political philosophy was devoted to the Throne and to the integrity idea of the "Hungarian national state", including the Romanians from Transylvania. For these reasons he was regarded with disgrace by the Romanians. He tried to rehabilitate himself publishing a lot of articles in "Hungaria" magazine, whose editorials were written by himself. His personality was based on the concepts of the Romanians origin, character, social and political status of them. The fields of his activity were history and ethnology. His studies took into consideration the South Danubian origin of the Romanians and he underlined the common traditions of the Romanians and Hungarians from Transylvania.
