Hotarul satului. Receptarea valorilor multiple ale hotarului în societatea tradiţională

  • Subiect: According to the concentric structure, in the ancient time it was considered that traditional village, having its sacred places-Hearth, Farm, Church, Cemetery, Well - is defended from magic point of view by mischievous spirits or malefic appearances; this "built" concentric barriers, larger and larger, that seemed to be real shields against the dark Unknown. The first circle is constituted by gardens and fences between village and land, the second (i.e. of the land) for tilled lands, meadows, hay fields, forests and the third, of the barriers between villages. Essential for the traditional village thinking, those representations had an influence on the spiritual profile of the traditional society, generating new customs, traditions, beliefs and practices. In such a context this approach tries to give sense to the notion of "border": for such a purpose we appeal to information from Sălaj district. The magic size of the border is very important in the traditional mentality. The border is like a ''magic barrier" stated Paul-Henri Stahl to protect the spaces within. So it is regarded as a "store land" capable to store the Dark, because here are "sent" in a symbolic way, the diseases, the evil eye, ghosts. This approach is a kind of a preamble to a more complete study based on interviews in Sălaj district, in order to reveal the whole magic dimension of border.
