Tendinţe de unitate religioasă la românii din Transilvania în timpul revoluţiei de la 1848

  • Subiect: Andrei Mureşanu lines dedicated to the Romanian 1848 revolutionaries, "Gather your thoughts, gather your spirits", was also understood widely as a call to confessional unity, to have one single Romanian religion, to be no longer united or disunited, but only Romanians. It was a historical moment of confusion, in which many Romanian leaders, as well as some civilian groups instinctively felt that they would be stronger if they all had the same belief and religion, so they could better hold back their common enemies. Lots of villages turned back to Orthodoxy; before the Assembly in Blaj from 1848, 3/15th May, a part of the participants believed that they were gathering in order to become one single confession. Priests and peasants alike, returned from the Assembly, affirming that they were neither Orthodox nor Greek-Catholic, but since then they had one single religion, the Romanian one.
