Subiect: Event of crucial importance in the European peoples history, the revolution of 1848-1849 had included and animated the Romanians of Ardeal. In the presented study, the involving and participation of people from Mureş county to the revolution is analysed through the prism of the contemporary testimony pointed out by the Tg. Mureş "greco-catolic" archpriest's correspondence, Elie Farago, himself participant to these events. The letter's reading introduces us to the troubled atmosphere of that time, when the Romanians have had to suffer a series of material, financial, moral-spiritual loses. Moreover, the address sent by the general territorial commander of the governmental committee to the archpriest Elie Farago mentions 37 churches destroyed or burnt during the revolution. One of the most serious consequences of the revolution of 1848 was the renunciation by the Romanian inhabitants in "secuime" zone, to their religion and passing to another religion, fact that led in time to their magyarization and loss of their national identity.
