Primele reprezentaţii ale "Teatrului cu fotografii mişcătoare" la Deva

  • Subiect: The work presents some data concerning the beginning of the film performances of The Theatre with Moving Photos at Deva. The first information have been dated since 1905 after 10 years from the film appearance in Paris and 9 from its introduction in Bucharest. The first film has been presented by a strolling and the shows were held in restaurant or coffee halls. Afterwards the "Coroana" restaurant owner bought a projection machine and pictures and had shows trice a week. The presented films were received from the Páthe - Frères Picture House in Paris and these were accompanied by printed text including in summary the content of the film images. The programme was composed of 10-13 short-reel films and it comprised besides the comedy pictures, documentaries too. Besides the Páthe - Frères House Pictures have been showed films of the Nordisk and Cines Houses from Roma - "Quo Vadis" had a very great success at the public of Deva. But the greatest success had the Romanian movie "The Romanian Independence - the icon of the War of 1877, because of the courageous and frightful fights of the Dorobanţi and the Romanian Hunters against the Turkish fortified nests till they conquered Plevna Heart" said the "Libertatea" newspaper from Orăştie. The movie was made on the occasion of the fulfillment of 35 years from the start of the war for independence, and the first night performance took place on 2-nd September, 1912, in Bucharest. The film activity stopped in the time of the First World War and it started again after 1918.
