Contribuţia profesorului Ioan Radu la răspîndirea cunoştinţelor ştiinţifice în lumea satului

  • Subiect: The work tries to give emphasis to the role that was carried by members of the Association of Transylvania for the Literature and the Culture of Romanian people (ASTRA) in increasing the level of knowledge of the handicraftsmen and the peasants, either through the establishment of libraries, schools, publications, or through the achievement of industrial and agricultural exhibitions, otherwise delivering lectures in the hamlets and villages from Transylvania. A remarkable role in the support of these lectures played the teacher Ioan Radu from Brad. In order to make these lectures more interesting, he accompanied them with projections of slides, projections achieved with the skiopticon bought from the German firm - the Liesegan Publishing House in Dusseldorf and with the slides bought from the same firm. Later on, thanks to the importance for the public, Ioan Radu drew out new lectures that have been illustrated with slides made by Ioan Stoica from Ormindea (140 pieces) which from a qualitative point of view were raised to the level of the other products made by foreign firms. Among these we mention some of them: The more selected variety of Cattle and its Attendance; The Crop of Cereals; Picture Postcards from Zarand; The Natural History; and the illustrative series for the war stories written by Mihail Sadoveanu.
