Cahle descoperite la Germisara (Geoagiu-Băi, judeţul Hunedoara)

  • Subiect: During archaeological investigation at Geoagiu-Băi undertaken on the perimeter in which Germisara the Roman thermal station laid it has been discovered, among other things, the remainder of some edifices from the Middle Ages. In these medieval buildings, as well as in two pits wits scrapes have been discovered numerous fragments of terracotta plates whose presentation created the topic of the present study. The terracotta plate fragments discovered at Geoagiu-Băi may be integrated with moreover constructive types each with a distinct part in the structure of the stove: - pot terracotta plates; - middle terracotta plates; - angular terracotta plates; - crest terracotta plates; - special terracotta plates. The ornamental catalogue includes figurative, geometrical, vegetable ornament grounds, or a combination of geometrical and vegetable elements. Among the terracotta plates with composite decoration, geometrical and vegetable, are integrated the ones in which the ornament was repeated to infinite, this one continued from a piece to other, counterfeit of the textures, so-called tapestry terracotta plates who otherwise were the most numerous. As a characteristic of all the fragments and terracotta plates discovered here is the fact that almost each of them presents the surface covered with a mica layer. Among the terracotta plate fragments from Geoagiu-Băi, only some seemed to be from the 15th century, the most numerous chronologically integrating at the beginning period of the 17th century, being manufactured in all probabilities in a local workshop, active in the Haţeg zone, which used decorative grounds made by Haben potters from Vinţ. Based on the terracotta plate fragments discovered there was promoted the assumption that at Geoagiu-Băi were worked more stoves, some of them following the others in time, contemporary others, too, suggested a concise attempt to rebuild a stove with the body made from tapestry terracotta plates, with geometrical and vegetable composite decoration.
